His journey began in Paris, France, where he obtained a French baccalaureate. This was followed by a BSc in Law and two master’s degrees from the University of Paris: an MPhil in International Studies and an MSc in European Geopolitics. His global experience includes serving as a French Diplomat at the French Consulate in Los Angeles, USA.

Mr Zafar’s teaching career started after he earned his third master’s degree, an MA in International Studies, from the University of Birmingham in the UK. After obtaining the National Professional Qualification for Middle Leaders (NPQML) and Senior Leaders (NPQSL), he further advanced his expertise with the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) from University College London (UCL).

He has consistently demonstrated a passion for helping underprivileged pupils and fostering educational growth. So, he has dedicated over 15 years to teaching underprivileged students from Birmingham and giving them a chance to succeed.

Education, for me, is the ultimate vehicle for social and economic success—a tool to transform lives, bridge divides, and create opportunities regardless of abilities, religion, colour, race, or gender.”

Advocacy for Inclusive Education and Leadership Excellence.

"The Best For All Child"

This vision relates to me personally because, with my multinational and multilingual background, I grew up in Paris (France) and succeeded in my professional life in Birmingham. As the son of immigrant parents, I strongly advocate for all students, especially those from migrant backgrounds, to have access to the highest quality education. I have always been committed to ensuring that high academic standards are achieved for all students.

One example is when I led a team of teachers in developing a school-wide curriculum aligned with state standards of DFE in the UK concerning incorporating whole-school catch-up literacy after the pandemic. During summer school, which I oversaw, we worked collaboratively to identify areas where students struggled and developed targeted interventions, securing Pupil Premium funding to support their learning. After weeks of rigorous T&L strategies and establishing a SOW, I implemented data-driven assessments to monitor student progress and the results of the CAT test. Our school saw a significant increase in student achievement and a substantial reduction in the gap between chronological and reading age.

As my own life chances were shaped by exceptional educators who believed in my potential in France and the UK, so I am now deeply committed to paying this forward by ensuring every child can achieve more than they ever thought possible!

Professional Growth and Impact in Education

Mr. Zafar’s teaching career officially began after earning his third master’s degree—an MA in International Studies from the University of Birmingham, UK. He has consistently demonstrated a passion for helping underprivileged pupils and fostering educational growth. After obtaining the National Professional Qualification for Middle Leaders (NPQML) and Senior Leaders (NPQSL), he further advanced his expertise with the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) from University College London (UCL).

In charge of Staff Development, I have been responsible for overseeing performance management, setting targets, and identifying critical priorities for the school’s school to be outstanding. I have worked collaboratively with colleagues to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to achieve our shared goals. I am currently working with many external CPD providers. By providing guidance and support to individual teachers and teams, I have helped to improve teaching and learning outcomes, resulting in improved student achievement and a more positive school culture. For example, in the last three years, our school has achieved many rewards from the PTI, such as the “PTI Subject Leadership Mark” in MFL, Geography and History.
